ACTUALLY: MARBELLA DESIGN & ART FAIR

Marbella design & art fair

Mainzu participates with its ceramics in the Tempo space at the Marbella Design & Art Fair

The top representatives of the international design world will meet from November 3 to November 13 at the fifth edition of Marbella Design & Art, one of the most important design and interior design fairs in Europe and the only exhibition that combines art with contemporary design. Specifically, fifty designers and more than 180 brands occupy 50 stands in the 3,000 square meters of the Palacio de Ferias, Exposiciones y Congresos Adolfo Suárez on the Costa del Sol, with an innovative and exclusive design.

Interior designer Diego Guillén Ligori (@diegoguillenligori) has been responsible for the design of the Tempo space, an area that draws attention by finding balance in our daily lives in search of harmony, in how we live and in what surrounds us, through a journey through its Italian, Catalan and Aragonese roots. Mainzu has contributed its Carino, Land Anthology and Nostalgy porcelain floor tiles. Decorated ceramic pieces inspired by the old hydraulic designs, offering the effect of the passage of time thanks to its worn finish, present in their bases.

Also participating in the Tempo space were Laufen España (@laufen.espana), Lladró (@lladro), Flos (@flos) and the artisans: Artesanos Aragón (@artesanos. aragon), Fifth Pine Deco (@fifthpinedeco), Ebanisteria Tomas (@ebanisteriatomas), Susana Vidrio (@susana_vidrio), Gema Bazán (@forjagemabazan), Teresa Pueyo Canales (@pueyoteresa), Paz Giral Gracia (@giralpaz), Cristalería David Glass (@cristaleriadavidglass) and Alabastros Aragoneses (@alabastrosaragoneses).

The Tempo space has received the second prize in the fifth edition of Marbella Design & Art.

"The second prize for the best fusion of art and interior design goes to a professional who has allowed us to travel to his most intimate and personal self, who has done it through the crossing of several disciplines to create a very beautiful and reflective space". With these words, Pilar Civis, director of Interiores magazine and member of the jury of the fifth edition of Marbella Design & Art, announced the award collected last night by Diego Guillén Ligori for his TEMPO space, in which several Aragonese artisans have collaborated.

"There have never been so many clocks to measure so little time", say Carlos López Otín and Guido Kroemer; "Our work, social and cultural clocks are out of sync with our biological clock", writes Jana Fernández in Aprender a descansar; "Several studies have shown that people who wander for longer periods of time on automatic pilot are less happy than those who manage to live more attentively in the present moment", says Marcos Cartagena in El sistema Hanasaki. Forty-five percent of our time we live in a state of daydreaming that ends up producing dissatisfaction, unhappiness and illness. This is one of the starting points for TEMPO, the space designed by interior designer Diego Guillén Ligori for the fifth edition of Marbella Design & Art. TEMPO aims to be a wake-up call to find harmony in our daily lives and in the things that surround us. We live programmed as multitasking people who can do any activity anywhere or many in one place, and we forget to live every minute with the five senses. And instead of concentrating on piloting our ship well, we get distracted by looking out the window every five minutes.

TEMPO has taken months to build with care and detail. Most of the pieces have been designed and made for space and to serve the story with which Diego Guillén Ligori wanted to dress the space. What is that story? As he himself explains, "more than 170 years ago my fourth grandfather left Naples, crossed the Mediterranean and began to write a new story in Catalonia, where my great-great-grandmother, my great-grandmother, my grandfather and my mother, who would meet my father recently arrived from Teruel at the Aragonese Center in Barcelona, were born".

Thus, those who visit TEMPO will cross the Mediterranean just as Domenico Ligori did and travel through Catalonia and Aragon in search of harmony, a new tempo in their lives. The interior designer has wanted to reflect in the space that in these trips there is always something that breaks, that is lost... but everything is put back together again, and that there are even paths that may or may not have an end. TEMPO invites us to recompose ourselves after the ruptures that make us who we are and to reflect on who we want to be in order to find our tempo: a journey in search of harmony.

The Mediterranean Sea and nature envelop those familiar roots in a journey embodied in a suite of 64 square meters where each space seems to rotate as if it were the mechanism of a clock. Through walkways set in Naples, we access a reflection area that invites to rest set in Catalonia and then the space for sleep set in Aragon. The space is completed by an endless walkway and the area dedicated to the bathroom, a harmony with its own tempo.

Although born in Barcelona, Diego Guillén has lived in Zaragoza since he was 15 years old and has worked as a journalist for two decades in the media, as well as in companies and institutions. Although he studied journalism, since childhood he has been linked to the world of decoration and lighting, and after training in interior design he decided to set up his own studio in Zaragoza with a clear philosophy: to design living spaces that tell stories, where every detail, however minimalist it may be, is at the service of the story and the day to day for a better life.

The Swiss firm Laufen is the official sponsor of the space, which also has the support of Lladró, Mainzu, Artesanos de Aragón, Flos and other national and international firms that have wanted to join the project, such as Gancedo, Bardera, Relax, Hager, MossyRock and Tecnoclima: four family sagas and the care for the artisan detail have helped the interior designer to tell the story of TEMPO.

All TEMPO floors have been covered with Mainzu pieces from different collections, most of which were seen for the first time just a few weeks ago at the international Cersaie trade fair in Bologna. Nostalgy is one of Mainzu's new series that seeks the perfect balance between classic and contemporary; from this series, the interior designer has chosen Sevilla White for the bathroom floors.
